JUNGLE ROOFTOP in Saigon: An Urban Oasis dedicated to Art
The famous Quynh Gallery commissioned T3 ARCHITECTS to transform its terrace into a true urban oasis in the heart of Saigon. This place now welcomes their clientele for exciting discussions on art and the art market, all in an exotic but nevertheless comfortable environment, highlighting the principles of bioclimatic architecture. The architects’ primary objective was to add a beautiful wooden terrace decorated with numerous plant boxes, thus demonstrating the effectiveness of bioclimatic architecture. This initiative had two objectives: to create a captivating natural atmosphere and to provide welcome shade on the existing concrete slab while highlighting bioclimatic architecture. This transformation significantly improves the comfort of the lower floor while reducing the gallery’s energy consumption through the use of bioclimatic architecture. The clever arrangement of the planters allows for the creation of modular outdoor spaces, suitable for various uses depending on the time of day: a space for employee meals, a place for meditation or an ideal place for exclusive receptions. KANOPEA and T3 designed a variety of spaces: open-air areas to admire the starry sky and enjoy the cool of the evening, covered spaces to protect from the hot sun or rain, as well as a small enclosed space housing a kitchen, perfect for preparing drinks and simple dishes, thus demonstrating the effectiveness of bioclimatic architecture. The covered terrace was insulated to avoid overheating thanks to bioclimatic architecture concepts. The palette of materials and colours was deliberately reduced, allowing the plants to bring their brilliance and life to the project, in line with the principles of bioclimatic architecture. The lighting was carefully designed to subtly illuminate the spaces without revealing the light source, thus creating a magical atmosphere in line with the ideals of bioclimatic architecture.
