T3 is designing a large Eco-Farm and Educational Park project in the South of Saigon (Vietnam), which proposes to mix organic agriculture production (2 hectares) and an educative Park (8 hectares) opened to Public and Students in the field of agronomy and environment. Starting from the definition of the Program, T3 and LJA did the full Master Plan, then designed all Architectural package (T3 Team) and Landscape package (LJA). The main intention was to produce organic vegetables and fruits (first Farm getting “bio label” from Europe and “organic label” from USA and improve the awarness of Vietnamese to respect environment and about “clean” agriculture (no chemical, permaculture, respect of the existing biodiversity, etc.). T3 Architects designed several buildings for this projects: 1 “entrance building” a Conference Center, a Ticketing, an organic Shop and a Coffee shop; 1 Restaurant Building which will offer 2 different restaurants, both organic and following the “farm to plate” concept, with most of the vegetables and ingredients coming directly from the Farm; 1 Museum about “sustainable agriculture” and mushroom; 1 Eco-lodge of 30 bungalows and reception building; 1 Office Building for the management Team of the Farm and the Park (80 employes). Of course, all the buildings designed by T3 follow bioclimatic principles (natural ventilation, sun protection with large overhangs and louvers). Moreover, as to make this building really sustainable, T3 proposes to use a wooden structure (low carbon foot print), water palm leaves roof (cheap and good efficiency in terms of insulation) as well as few walls made by non cooked bricks (humidity control). The park is designed to welcome families and student groups, both for educative purpose as well as for entertainement but with outdoor activities realted to Nature and environment: canoe kayak, large aviary, dry garden, wet area, forest, outdoor cinema, yoga pod, climbing wall, water “sports”, etc. T3 and LJA pushed to bring all outdoor activities expected today by the inhabitants of any big Asian City! PROGRAM Definition
T3 and LJ-Asia designed the Master Plan of the project as to get 30% of the land dedicated to organic agriculture production, 50% dedicated to welcome Public to aware Vietnamese to environment to expand the community promoting healty food and reduction of air pollution. The last 20% of land use will be dedicated for an Eco-lodge to welcome all researchers and people interested by ecology in Vietnam.
Landscape Strategy for the Park
T3 designed the Landscape in collaboration with LJ-Asia, first, with the main intention to preserve all the existing Biodiversity: water features, insects, birds, plants, main trees… Then, we decided to split the plot with one part dedicated to production and one other dedicated to awarness about aquapony, permaculture, orchards, humid forest, swamps, etc. Finally, T3 and LJA designed all circulation to link the different areas, new water feature (which allow to do kayaking), some foot-bridges and all buildings to welcome guests for such a big Park!
