T3 Architects designed the Pasteur Institute Cambodia as to bring a new look to this famous Healthcare institution in Phnom Penh. From an “old style” local clinic, T3 Architects turned the building in a modern and clean international healthcare Center by proposing a full refurbishment and new interior design. T3, in collaboration with Pasteur Team, has focused a lot on the Layout’s consistency to make the place “easy” both for doctors and patients… T3 selected the finishing materials as to bring wellness: hardwood (natural), lineoleum floor (hygienic); T3 also decided to go for a colorful interior, as to help patients to feel confident and welcome when entering the clinic. Lighting have been specifically designed to bring enough lux, but also a place warm. Privacy and confidentiality have been studying carefully during design process.
Bioclimatic Section under Tropical climate
T3 designed the Bungalows taking care of the sun direction and main wind direction to design roof shape and facade orientation. The main goal being to avoid direct sun exposure of any facade to avoid overheating and to promote natural ventilation as much as possible, reducing the need of AC. Bathroom are semi-opened and the double ventilated roof allow to keep a good thermal comfort inside the bungalow.

T3 designed the typical Bungalow layout and section to ensure a proper protection from sun exposure with 3 different solutions: double ventilated roof to avoid overheating by roof (solution 1), large overhangs and vegetation to protect east facade (solution 2), double skin for West facade (solution 3). Our energy efficiency engineer also did some calculation to optimize the thermal comfort of the bungalows by selecting the proper materials at the right location, optimizing the size of the windows, always proposing low-tech solutions promoting materials available on the Vietnamese market.
